Lighting for warm, layered rooms
Good lighting changes how a room feels more than almost anything else in it. Our lighting collection focuses on table lamps and small accent lights that bring a soft, low glow to living rooms, bedrooms and hallways, so you can step away from a single bright ceiling light in the evening.
Building light in layers
Most rooms feel calmer with three or four light sources at different heights. Start with a table lamp beside the sofa or bed, add a second lamp on a console or sideboard, then use a small accent light on a shelf or in a darker corner. Linen and fabric shades diffuse light gently, while wooden, ceramic and stone-effect bases add texture even when the lamp is switched off.
Choosing the right lamp
- Size: check the overall height against the surface; bedside lamps usually look best when the shade sits around eye level when seated.
- Bulb: a warm white bulb (around 2700K) gives the softest evening light.
- Shade: lighter shades spread light; darker or hessian shades create a more focused pool.
Browse table and desk lamps, or pair your lighting with natural candles for slower evenings.
